Indian flag bearer Manu Bhaker has been picked to carry the flag at the Paris 2024 Olympics Closing Ceremony on August 11.
Two medals were won by 23-year-old Manu Bhaker at Paris 2024. She revealed the news on her social media page and thanked the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) for picking her.
Bhaker said, “It is an honor and a privilege to be chosen to carry India’s flag at the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics.”
I will always remember the honor of leading the great Indian team with the tricolor in my hands while millions of people around the world watched. Thank you so much to The IOA for giving me this honor. I’m very excited to raise the Indian flag with great joy. “Jai Hind!”
Three years ago, wrestler Bajrang Punia carried India’s flag at the end of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
To mark the start of the event in Paris, PV Sindhu and Sharth Kamal brought India’s flag in the Parade of Nations on the Seine River.

Manu Bhaker won India’s first shot medal since London 2012 at the Summer Games in Paris 2024, which was her second trip to the event.
Bhaker is the first Indian woman to win an Olympic medal in shooting. She is also the third Indian after Sushil Kumar and PV Sindhu to win two Olympic medals since freedom.
She won India’s first gold, a bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol event. The next day, she and Sarabjot Singh won another bronze in the 10m air pistol mixed event. Bhaker almost made it to the podium for the third time in 25m pistol, but he came in fourth place in the final.
It has won all three of its medals at the Paris 2024 Olympics so far in the shooting events. In the men’s 50m three-position rifle event, Swapnil Kusale also won a bronze medal.
