Ozzie Fox became the first woman to win an Olympic gold medal in the women’s kayak cross event. Angele Hug of France won silver, and Kimberley Woods of Great Britain won bronze in an exciting finish.
“It’s just been a whirlwind of love and support, and it’s so surreal to be, you know, having this gold medal hang from my neck,” he said. “Obviously sharing that with my family and and my whole team and my friends that came from Australia as well has been super, super special.”
When Hug and Fox trained together in Prague before the Games, they became friends. As soon as they crossed the finish line, they hugged to celebrate.
