Extended Deadline – SNAP Benefit Replacements Now Accessible for Residents:-Texas has been hit by another natural disaster, which has put a lot of families in trouble, especially those who already depend on SNAP benefits. As a Category 1 storm, storm Beryl hit land near Matagorda, Texas, on July 8. It did a lot of damage across the state. The storm had effects that were felt even after it got weaker and stopped being a tropical storm over Arkansas.

It may look like the whole state was affected by the disaster, but because it was so bad, only 121 of the 254 counties can get SNAP benefits replaced. These areas are eligible:

Replacement Benefits
SNAP users who lost food because of the hurricane’s effects, like power outages, flooding, or other damage caused by the storm, can get their benefits replaced. The state has pushed back the deadline for applying for these replacements from 10 days to August 8, 2024. This will give families more time to think about their losses and apply.
How to Fill Out
Here’s what you need to do to get new benefits:
Options for getting in touch: Call 2-1-1 and choose option 2, go to the Texas Health and Human Services website, or go to your local SNAP office.
Form H1855: Download and fill out Form H1855 (Affidavit for Not Receiving or Losing SNAP Benefits). On this form, you have to write down how much the lost food was worth and how much your monthly reward is.
To send the form, write it down and mail it to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission at P.O. Box 149027, Austin, TX 78714-9027.
