Walmart, the biggest store in the US, just recently agreed to a big settlement because it was said that it was asking too much for some items. People said the store charged too much for groceries that were sold by weight. Walmart settled the case to avoid the costs and risks of a long trial, even though they denied doing anything wrong.
A $45 million settlement deal ends this lawsuit that affects a lot of customers. People who agreed to this deal should get their money within two to three months of the final approval, which happened on June 12, 2024. Based on this schedule, it looks like the settlement payouts will happen in July or August 2024.

You can file a claim if you bought weighted goods at any Walmart store between October 19, 2018, and January 19, 2024. Items that are weighed include foods that are sold by the pound, like beef, chicken, pork, turkey, and others.
Having papers can help you get more money, but you don’t have to have them to make a claim. Customers who are eligible must fill out and send in the claim form that can be found on the Walmart settlement site by the due date.

Even if a customer doesn’t have a receipt, they may still get a payout of $10 to $25, based on how many items they bought.
- Customers who bought between 1 and 50 things can get $10.
- People who bought between 51 and 75 things can get $15 back.

Once you send in your claim form, it will be looked over by the claims editor. If your claim is accepted, you will get your money the usual time, which is in August or September 2024.
One important thing to keep in mind is that not all claims will get their money at the same time; the process could take a few weeks. So, if the settlement payment release starts at the end of August 2024, most applicants should get their money by the middle of September 2024.
People with a settling claim can call 1-833-987-9998 or go to the court’s office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding court holidays, to find out what’s going on with their claim. Claimants can also get in touch with the class counsel if they need more information about the deal or have any questions.
